Worked example

40 ml at $30.00 per 1000 ml, 4 h at 60 W and $0.16/kWh, a $350.00 machine over 3,000 h, 15 min of hands-on time at $20.00/h and a 7% failed-print buffer works out to about $7.21 per good print: material $1.20, electricity $0.04, printer wear $0.47, labor $5.00, failures $0.50.

What drives the cost

  • Enter resin in ml from your slicer, with the bottle size as 1000 ml.
  • Supports and rafts add 10–30% resin. Include them in the volume.
  • IPA or wash fluid, gloves and FEP film are consumables. Fold them into labor or wear.

Common uses

  • Tabletop miniatures
  • Jewelry masters
  • Detailed figurines

Watch out for

  • Uncured resin is a skin and eye irritant, so use gloves and ventilation.
